The main purpose of this Bill is to widen, beyond university graduates, the categories of persons eligible for free movement in Member States of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) to include artistes, musicians, sports persons and media workers.
The Bill will also widen the application of the Act to include persons qualifying as citizens of Caribbean Community States by descent, registration, naturalization and adoption and put beyond doubt the authority of immigration officers to permit the spouses and dependents of persons who satisfy the qualification requirements of the Act to enter Trinidad and Tobago.
