Mr. Kelvin Ramnath

Mr. Kelvin Ramnath first entered Parliament in 1976, as the member for Couva South. Mr. Ramnath would occupy this position until 1991, serving as Minister of Government between 1987 and 1988 as a member of the coalition National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) government. When the coalition disbanded due to disagreement Mr. Ramnath served in Opposition until 1991.

Mr. Ramnath would leave the House of Representatives between 1991 and 2000, serving on occasion as a Temporary Senator. He would return to electoral politics in 2001, regaining the Couva South seat as a member of the United National Congress, and again in 2002 and 2007.

Mr. Ramnath has worked in the energy sector for many years and is a very experienced and skillful debater.

Mr. Ramnath passed away on July 21, 2012.
