Mr. Lawrence Achong first entered Parliament in 2001 as the elected Member for Point Fortin. During the 6th Republican Parliament (2001), Mr. Achong served in Opposition. Mr. Achong served as Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development during the 7th and 8th Republican Parliaments, before demitting ministerial office in March 2004. He would serve as Member for Point Fortin until the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on September 28, 2007.
