Debate resumed (from October 9, 2024) on the Appropriation (Financial Year 2025) Bill, 2024. The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries was first to enter the debate, followed by the Member for Fyzabad, the Prime Minister and the Member for Couva North. The Minister of Finance then rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was then referred to the Standing Finance Committee to consider the estimates. After five days of Standing Finance Committee, the Committee of the Whole then considered the Bill clause by clause. The Bill was then reported to the House, where it was read a third time and passed.
The Speaker addressed the House on statements made in the House by the Member for Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West during the debate on the budget.
The Member for Pointe-a-Pierre raised a matter of Privilege in the House related to words made during the budget debate on October 10, 2024 by the Member for Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West.
The Member for Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West apologised to the House for statements he made in the House during the budget debate.
The Deputy Speaker ruled on the Matter of Privilege raised by the Member for Pointe-a-Pierre.
