Three Bills, The Finance (No.2) Bill, 2016, the Insurance Bill, 2016 and the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Bill, 2016 were introduced. The Minister of Finance moved that the next stage of the Finance (No.2) Bill be taken at a sitting of the House on Monday July 4, 2016. The House agreed.
The Attorney General resumed second reading on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Anti-Gang and Bail) Bill, 2016. The Leader of the Opposition was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs and the Member for Caroni Central. Nine members made contributions before the Attorney General rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and approved without amendment. A division was then taken at third reading, the result of which was 22 for, 18 against, no absentions. The Bill therefore did not receive the support of the requisite majority and was not approved.
At the next sitting the House will debate the Finance (No.2) Bill, 2016. The sitting ended at 9:33 p.m.
