1st Sitting of the Senate
1st Session - 13th Republican Parliament
The Clerk read the Proclamation by Her Excellency the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago declaring the 1st Session of the 13th Parliament open. The National Anthem was played.
The President of the Senate, Sen. the Hon. Wade Mark, sought nominations for the post of Vice-President of the Senate. Sen. Kenya Charles was the sole nomination and was declared Vice-President of the Senate. Sen. Charles took the oath of allegiance.
All Senators took the requisite oath or affirmation.
One paper was laid.
The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Darryl Allahar, the Leader of the Opposition Bench, Sen. Dr. Amery Browne, the Leader of the Independent Bench, Sen. Anthony Vieira, S.C., and the President of the Senate, Sen. the Hon. Wade Mark, brought congratulatory remarks on the opening of the 13th Republican Parliament.
The President of the Senate brought greetings to the nation on the upcoming celebration of Indian Arrival Day.
The Sitting concluded at 4:18 p.m. The Senate adjourned to a date to be fixed.
