The Minister of Health, Hon. Terrence Deyalsingh, MP, made a statement on the unexpected deaths of seven babies during the period April 2-9, 2024, at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Port of Spain General Hospital.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP, moved a motion that the Joint Select Committee appointed to report on the Representation of the People (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2020 be granted an extension to June 30, 2024 to complete its work. The motion was approved.

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved motions to approve the Notification of the appointment of
- Mrs. Patsy Latchman-Atterbury to the office of Director General
- Mrs. Helen Thomas-Brown to the office of Deputy Director General – Domestic Tax
- Mr. Riad Juman to the office of Deputy Director General – Customs and Excise
of the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority. The Member for Barataria/San Juan, Mr. Saddam Hosein, was the sole contributor to the debate.
With 18 votes for, 14 votes against and no abstentions, the motion to approve the notification of the appointment of Mrs. Patsy Latchman-Atterbury to the office of Director General of the TTRA was approved.
With 19 votes for, 14 votes against and no abstentions, the motion to approve the notification of the appointment of Mrs. Helen Thomas-Brown to the office of Deputy Director General – Domestic Tax of the TTRA was approved.
With 20 votes for, 17 votes against and no abstentions, the motion to approve the notification of the appointment of Mr. Riad Juman to the office of Deputy Director General – Customs and Excise of the TTRA was approved.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Provisions (Administration of Justice) Bill, 2023. The Member for Barataria/San Juan was first to enter the debate followed by the Minister of Public Utilities and the Member for Caroni Central. The Attorney General then rose to wind up the debate. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. The bill was approved with amendments. The bill was read a third time and passed.
