The Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings)(Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2024 seeks to further amend the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) Act, 2011 (Act No. 20 of 2011) which provides for the abolition of preliminary enquiries and for the conduct of initial and sufficiency hearings by a Master of the High Court.
The Bill would amend section 33 of the Act, with effect from 12th December, 2023, to ensure that the Indictable Offences (Preliminary Enquiry) Act, Chap. 12:01, continues to have effect for the purposes of the Extradition (Commonwealth and Foreign Territories) Act, Chap.
