Leave of absence was given from the Deputy Speaker to the Member for San Fernando West for the period of July 19th -25TH, 2014 and the Member for Diego Martin North-East for the period July 25-Aug 4th, 2014.

The Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the Legislative Proposal entitled ‘The Draft Houses of Parliament Service Authority Bill, 2014’ was presented by the Leader of the House. See the Supplemental Order Paper.
11 Questions qualified for Oral Answer. Questions nos. 148 and 170 were deferred for one week. Questions nos. 178 and 180 were postponed to the next Sitting of the House. See the Order Paper.
The Member for Diego Martin Central sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of urgent public importance.
The Member for Moruga/Tableland made a statement regarding the latest measures taken by the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development for the situation surrounding the St. Michael’s School for Boys.
The Minister of Education is now making a statement regarding infrastructural repairs to Early Childhood Education Centers.
The Prime Minister made a statement regarding an Audit of the Life Sport Programme.
Debate is expected to continue on a Private Motion in the name of the Member for Diego Martin North/East which asks the House to censure the Minister of Sport for facilitating through the Life Sport Programme the funding of criminals and criminal enterprise. The Member for Chaguanas West was the first to contribute followed by the Member for Oropouche East.
The Member for Diego Martin North/East moved as a matter on the adjournment of the House, the issue of an improved national response to the emerging issue of vector borne diseases. The Minister of Health then rose to respond.
The House adjourned to Monday 28th July 2014 at 1:30 p.m. At that sitting the House is expected to conclude debate on the Planning and Facilitation of Land Bill as well as consider Senate amendments to several pieces of legislation.
