The Vice-President of the Senate advised that the President of the Senate is currently serving as President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (Proceeds of Crime and Central Bank) Bill, 2019 was brought from the House of Representatives. The Minister of Finance moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.

Mr. Augustus Thomas was appointed temporary Senator for the period during which Sen. the Hon. Christine Kangaloo acts as President of the Republic. Mr. Thomas took the oath of allegiance.
The Acting Leader of Government Business moved a motion to allow an extension to the JSC on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 to March 31, 2020, in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Provisions (Proceeds of Crime and Central Bank) Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill with nine members speaking before the Minister of Finance rose to wind up debate. The Bill was considered by a Committee of the Whole and approved without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed.
At the next sitting, debate will begin on the Finance Bill, 2019. The sitting ended at 7:03 p.m.
