The President of the Senate then read a letter from the President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago appointing Arch. Barbara Burke, Mr. Don Sylvester, Mr. Fitzgerald Hinds, Mrs. Camille Robinson-Regis, Mrs. Diane Baldeo-Chadeesingh and Mr. Avinash Singh as temporary Senators. They then took the Oath of Allegiance as temporary Senators for today’s siting.

The Minister of Health moved a Motion asking the Senate to approve the Tobacco Control Regulations, 2013. Mrs. Camille Robinson-Regis was the first to join the debate followed by Sen. Victor Wheeler, Sen. Avinash Singh, Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan, Mrs. Diane Baldeo-Chadeesingh, Sen. Helen Drayton, the Attorney General, (Temp)Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds, Sen. Dr. Rolph Balgobin, Sen. Shamfa Cudjoe, Sen Elton Prescott, SC, Sen. Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir, Sen. Anthony Vieira and Sen. David Small. The Minister of Health then rose to wind up. The Motion was put to a vote and passed by a division of 27 For, 0 Against and 2 Abstentions.
