The matter involved statements made by Opposition Senator Jearlean John, following the passage of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (Amendment) Bill, 2020 on December 8, 2020, regarding the support of Sen. Dr. Maria Dillon-Remy of the Bill. The President of the Senate reserved her ruling for later in the proceedings.

The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Provisions (FATF Compliance) Bill, 2020. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration. Amendments were made. With 23 votes for, 6 votes against and 1 abstention, the Bill was read a third time and passed.

The President of the Senate informed that she will present her ruling on the matter at the next Sitting of the Senate.
