The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Gary Griffith and Sen. Rev. Joy Abdul-Mohan who are both currently out of the country. The President then read a letter from the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago appointing Ms. Ashaki Scott and Mr. Taurel Shrikissoon as temporary Senators. They then took the Oath of Allegiance as temporary Senators for the day’s sitting.

The Minister of Finance and the Economy moved the second reading of the Bill. Sen. Dr. Lester Henry was the first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Dr. Rolph Balgobin, Sen. the Hon. Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie and Sen. Helen Drayton. Nine Senators made contributions before debate on the Bill was suspended.
