Sen. the Hon. Anand Ramlogan SC, Sen. the Hon. Devant Maharaj amd Sen. Shamfa Cudjoe are out of the country and were granted leave of absence by the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate then read a letter from the President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago appointing Mr. Wayne Sturge and Arch. Barbara Burke as temporary Senators. They then took the Oath of Allegiance as temporary Senators for today’s siting.

Questions 16, 17. 27, 29 and 29 were answered and questions 10 and 12 were deferred for two weeks.

Sen. Helen Drayton moved a Private Motion asking the House to, establish a Joint Select Committee to propose a legislative framework to govern the financing of election campaigns. The Motion was seconded by Sen. Dr. Victor Wheeler. The Minister of Planning was first to enter the debate followed by Sen. Faris Al-Rawi. The Motion was then passed.
