The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Senator Anita Haynes who is currently out of the country. Mr. Brian Baig was temporarily appointed to replace Senator Anita Haynes.

The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved the second reading of the Finance Bill, 2017. Opposition Senator, Sen. Wade Mark was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir, Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan. 12 Senators made contributions before the Minister in the Ministry of Finance rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was read a second time, was not referred to a Committee of the Whole, and was read a third time and passed. At third reading a division was taken the result of which was 23 for, none against, 6 abstentions.
Senator Mark raised the matter of the Central Bank’s sale of foreign exchange to Commercial Banks in Trinidad and Tobago. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance responded.
