7th Sitting of the House of Representatives
1st Session - 12th Republican Parliament
Leave of absence was granted to Ms. Khadijah Ameen, MP for St. Augustine and Mr. Rudranath Indarsignh, MP for Couva South, from today’s Sitting of the House.
In accordance with Standing Order 89 (2), the Speaker of the House appointed members to serve on five Sessional Select Committees of the House.
The Speaker shared correspondence received from the President of the Senate informing of the establishment of Joint Select Committees to consider and report on the Fisheries Management (No. 2) Bill, 2020 and the Shipping Bill, 2020 by December 31, 2020.

One urgent question was posed.
Twenty-six questions qualified for oral answer. Twenty questions were answered before the time for questions for oral answers expired.
The Anti-Gang (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced in the name of the Attorney General.
The Leader of the House moved motions for the appointment of members to Joint Select Committees. The motions were approved.
The Minister of Finance, Hon Colm Imbert, MP, moved a motion that the House confirm the Provisional Collection of Taxes Order, 2020. Debate began on the motion. The motion was approved.
The Member for Barataria / San Juan, Mr. Saddam Hosein, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Government to properly account for the distribution of the Salary Relief Grant. The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, responded.
The House brought greetings to the Hindu community on the upcoming celebration of Divali on November 14, 2020.
