Twenty questions qualify for oral answer. Question #8 was deferred for two weeks. Eleven questions were answered before the time for questions expired.
The Finance Bill, 2022 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Finance, who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Civil Aviation (Amendment) Bill, 2022 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Works and Transport, who moved that the next stage of the bill be taken on Friday November 11, 2022.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., made a personal explanation to clarify a statement in the budget regarding the retirement age and NIB.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Camille Robinson- Regis, MP, moved a motion that the Representation of the People (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2020 be referred to a Joint Select Committee, which will adopt the work of JSC in the Second Session and report to the House by March 31st, 2023 and that six named members be appointed to that Committee. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Finance, Hon. Colm Imbert, MP, moved the second reading of the Finance Bill, 2022. Five members contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Minister of Finance. The bill then committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The bill was read a third time and passed.
Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment, namely the construction of three high rise apartment buildings at Todd Street, San Fernando, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Housing Development Corporation, contrary to planning policy in what has been determined to be a school zone. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Camille Robinson-Regis, MP, responded.
