Extension of Speaking Time for the Minister of Finance

The Leader of the House moved that the Minister of Finance be allowed to continue his contribution on the bills to be considered until his conclusion, without limit to his speaking time. The House agreed.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Miscellaneous Provisions (FATF Compliance) Bill, 2025 and The Counter-Proliferation Financing Bill, 2025

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Davendranath Tancoo, MP moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (FATF Compliance) Bill, 2025. He moved that this bill be considered together with the Counter-Proliferation Financing Bill, 2025. The motion was approved. The Member for Diego Martin North/East was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Legal Affairs. Four other members added their voice to the debate before the wind up by the Minister of Finance.

The Miscellaneous Provisions (FAT Compliance) Bill, 2025 was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause and was approved with amendments. With 27 votes for, 0 votes against and 7 abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.

The Counter-Proliferation Financing Bill, 2025 was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause and was approved with amendments. With 27 votes for, 0 votes against and 7 abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
