The Leader of the House laid one Paper on behalf of the Minister of Finance, indicating that a Second Paper would be laid later in the proceedings.

The Minister of Finance made a Statement in the House pertaining to legislative and other measures taken by the Government to regulate the financial sector.
The Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2009 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2009 were introduced by the Minister of Finance, who moved that the next stage of the Bills be taken later in the proceedings. In both instances, leave was granted.
The Minister of Finance moved the Second Reading of the Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2009. In so doing the Minister sought leave to also debate the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2009. Leave was granted. Following the Minister’s presentation, the Member for St. Augustine was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Works and Transport. A total of 15 members made contributions before the Minister began her wind up. Debate was then suspended.
The Speaker made a ruling on a submission made by Mr. Ewart Williams to have a right of reply entered into the Parliamentary record.
At its next sitting the House will conclude debate on the Central Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2009 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2009. The House adjourned at 11:10 p.m.
