The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Senators Wade Mark and David Small from today’s sitting. Ms. Racquel Ghany and Mr. Albert Sydney were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Mark and Small respectively. The appointment of Sen. Allyson Baksh has been revoked. Mr. Ronald Huggins was appointed a Government Senator.
The Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2017, which was passed in the House on November 17, 2017 was read a first time in the Senate. The Attorney General moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The Senate agreed.

The Leader of Government Business proposed a number of reassignments to Joint Select Committees. The Senate agreed.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2017. Sen. Gerald Ramdeen was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Paul Richards and the Minister of Works and Transport. Eight Senators made contributions before the Attorney General rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was read a second time and referred to a Committee of the whole where it was considered and approved without amendment. The bill was then read a third time and passed.
Senator Melissa Ramkissoon moved a Matter on the Motion for the Adjournment. The Minister of Works and Transport responded.
