Visiting Caribbean Delegates

The Speaker announced the presence in the Chamber of several delegates to the recently concluded 35th Conference of the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, including the Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Cayman Islands.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Senior Citizens' Grant (Amendment) Bill, 2010

The Minister of the People and Social Development moved the Second Reading of the Senior Citizens’ Grant (Amendment) Bill, 2010. The Member for Diego Martin Central was first to enter the debate, followed by the maiden contribution of the Minister of State in the Ministry of the People and Social Development. A total of ten members made contributions before the Minister rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. At the third reading, a division was taken, the result of which was 32 for, none against, no abstentions.
