The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Members for Tabaquite, Chaguanas, Mayaro, San Fernando west, Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West and Diego Martin Central.
The Minister of Finance presented the second report (2011 Session) of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives.
Both Questions which qualified for oral answer were answered. See the Order Paper.
Two Bills, the Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) Bill, 2011 and the Equal Opportunity (Amendment) Bill, 2011 were introduced.
The Minister of Finance moved a Motion to adopt the 2nd Report of the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives. The Leader of the Opposition was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Education and the Member for Diego Martin North/East. Seven members made contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to conclude. The Motion was then approved.
The Minister of Finance then moved the second reading of the Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) Bill, 2011. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.
At the next sitting, debate is expected to begin on the Anti-Terrorism Bill, 2011. The House will also consider Senate amendments to the Trafficking in Persons Bill, 2011 and the Data Protection Bill, 2011. The sitting ended at 10:20 p.m.
