Dr. Tim Gopeesingh made a request for leave to move the adjournment of the House on a definite matter of public importance namely the lack of preparedness and failure of the Government to prevent the closure of over 25 schools across Trinidad and Tobago as at September 3, 2018. The Speaker was not satisfied that this matter qualified under Standing Order 17.
Hon. Cherrie-Ann Crichlow-Cockburn made statements on the Draft National Policy on Persons With Disabilities (PWD) and the National Social Mitigation Plan.
The Leader of the House moved motions to allow the JSC on the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority Bill, 2018 and the JSC on the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) Control Bill, 2016 an extension to complete its work and submit a final report by September 26, 2018. These motions were approved.
The Leader of the House moved a motion that the proceedings of the following seven Bills be carried over to the 4th Session:
- The Cybercrime Bill, 2017
- The Constitution (Amendment) (Tobago Self-Government) Bill, 2018
- The Whistleblower Protection Bill, 2018
- The Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters Bill, 2018
- The Tax Information Exchange Agreements Bill, 2018
- The National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago Bill, 2018
- The Planning and Facilitation of Development (Amendment) Bill, 2018
The House considered Senate amendments to the Payments into Court Bill, 2018. The amendments were agreed upon.
