Private Motion: Implementation of Equal Opportunity Legislation

Debate resumed (from Tuesday July 22, 2008) on a Private Motion by Senator Wade Mark which asks the House to proclaim and fully effect Equal Opportunity legislation. Some seven Senators made contributions before Senator Mark responded. The Attorney General then rose to conclude the debate under Standing Order 33(2) Right of Reply. The Motion was approved by a margin of ten for, one against and twelve abstentions.

Forensic Audit into the THA

Senator Mark raised a matter calling for a forensic audit into certain financial matters of the Tobago House of Assembly. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance responded.

At its next sitting the Senate will debate a Motion which seeks to confirm the Excise Duty (Compressed Natural Gas) Order, 2008. The Senate adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
