Motions Relating To The Business Or Sittings Of The House And Moved By A Minister Or Parliamentary Secretary
Extension to JSC

The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan, moved motions that the JSC on the Cannabis Control Bill, 2019 and the JSC on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 be granted extensions to August 31, 2020 in order for the Committees to complete their work and submit their final reports. The motions were approved.

The Urban and Regional Planning Profession Bill, 2019

The consideration of The Urban and Regional Planning Profession Bill, 2019 continued in the Committee of the Whole. Amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.

Government Business: Motions
Approve the Land Acquisition (Requisition) Orders, 2018 and 2019

The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Sen. the Hon. Clarence Rambharat, moved a motion that the Senate approve the Land Acquisition (Requisition) Order, 2018. He further moved that this motion be debated simultaneously with the motion to approve the Land Acquisition (Requisition) Order, 2019. The motion for simultaneous debate was approved. Debate began on both motions. Both motions were approved.

Matter On The Adjournment
Two Matters

Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the need for the Government to provide the Senate with detailed information of the procurement process used by NIPDEC and the name/s of preferred suppliers of face masks at a cost of approximately $5M. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Sen. the Hon. Allyson West, responded.

Sen. Paul Richards raised a matter on the need for the Government to provide details of its plans for ensuring a robust state digital communication network particularly in the rural communities to facilitate connectivity to Government services. The Minister of Public Administration, Sen. the Hon. Allyson West, responded.
