Dr. Tim Gopeesingh, MP for Caroni East, moved a motion calling on the House to condemn the Government for its mismanagement of the health sector and call for the implementation of remedial measures, policies and programmes. Debate began on the motion.
Earlier in the Sitting, the Speaker of the House indicated that the MP for Oropouche East, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, did not submit a type written copy of his personal explanation to her and made request for it. At the break, she informed that she received a letter from the Chief Whip highlighting that the type written explanation could not be submitted at this Sitting due to a number of reasons. He further requested that the explanation be given at the next Sitting of the House. Leave was sought for such and agreed upon.
The Member for Naparima, Mr. Rodney Charles, MP, moved a private motion on the annulment of the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations, 2019. Debate began on the Bill. With 9 votes for, 17 votes against and 0 abstentions, the motion was defeated.
