Leave of absence was given to the Member for Tunapuna who is out of the country from June 29th – July 4th 2014 and the Member for Port of Spain North/St Ann’s West for today’s sitting
The Speaker then read into the record, correspondence from the Vice-President of the Senate that, “at a sitting held on Tuesday June 17, 2014 the Senate resolved that Parliament appoint a Joint Select Committee to propose a legislative framework to govern the financing of election campaigns and to submit its report with recommendations to both Houses of Parliament within six months of its appointment.â€
The Bill was introduced in the name of the Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development.
15 Questions qualified for Oral Answer. Questions Nos. 136, 162 and 165 were deferred. Questions 134, 135, 138, 141, 142, 156, 157, 163 and 164 were orally answered. Questions 158, 160 and 161 were postponed to the next sitting.
The Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development moved the second reading of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Bill, 2014. The Member for St. Joseph was the first to contribute on the Bill followed by the Leader of the House, the Member for Chaguanas West, the Minister of Legal Affairs and the Member for Diego Martin North/East.
The House adjourned to Friday 11th July at 1:30pm to consider the Planning and Facilitation of Development Bill, 2013 and the Senate amendments to the Nurses, Midwives Registration(Amendment)Bill, 2014.
