The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Provisions (Petroleum, Petroleum Production Levy and Subsidy and Income Tax) Bill, 2019 in the Senate. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. The Bill was read a third time and passed, without amendments.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of The Firearms (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to consider the indexing of pensions paid to retired public officers and to index their pensions to the cost of living. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance responded.
Sen. Taharqa Obika raised a matter regarding the failure of the Government to use the Caroni lands to focus on food security. The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries responded.
