Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The National Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2022

The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved the second reading of the National Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2022. Senator Wade Mark was first to respond, followed by Sen. Amrita Deonarine and the Attorney General. 12 Members made contributions before the Minister in the Ministry of Finance rose to wind up.  The Bill was considered in Committee and approved without amendment. At third reading a division was taken, the result of which was 19 voting for, 2 against and seven abstentions.

Matter On The Adjournment
Two Matters

Sen. Nakhid raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the need for the Minister of Trade and Industry to explain her statement that the rise in flour prices is temporary and linked to future market conditions. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, responded.
Sen. Amrita Deonarine raised a matter regarding the need for the Government to present virtual asset legislation to Parliament. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Brian Manning, MP, responded.
