Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., MP for Siparia and Dr. Fuad Khan, MP for Barataria / San Juan, from today’s Sitting of the House. Leave was also granted to Mr. Barry Padarath, MP for Princes Town, from Sittings of the House during the period July 1-31, 2020.
The Miscellaneous Amendments (No. 2) Bill, 2020 was brought from the Senate in the name of the Attorney General. Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Member for La Horquetta / Talparo, Hon. Maxie Cuffie, MP, lodged a petition on behalf of the Cross Rhodes Freedom Project requesting the removal of the Christopher Columbus monuments in Trinidad and Tobago. Leave was granted for the petitioners to proceed.

The Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Keith Rowley, MP, made a statement on the Phase 1 Report of the Committee appointed to Develop a Roadmap for Recovery Post COVID-19.
The Leader of the House moved a motion that the JSC on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 be granted an extension of 2 months in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by August 31, 2020. The motion was approved.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of The Miscellaneous Amendments (No. 2) Bill, 2020. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Sen. the Hon. Clarence Rambharat, moved the second reading of The Animal (Diseases and Importation) (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
