The Speaker of the House granted leave of absence to the Member for San Fernando East (today’s sitting), the Member for Laventille West(today’s sitting – May 25th, 2015) and the Member for Diego Martin Central (today’s sitting).

The Minister of Transport presented the Interim Report of the Joint Select Committee on the Insurance Bill, 2015.
Four Questions were answered and the Question in the name of the Minister of Food Production was deferred. See the Order Paper.
The Waste Recycling Bill, 2015 was introduced by the Minister of Water Resources and the Environment. The Minister moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The House agreed.
The Minister of Transport moved that the House adopt the interim Report of the Joint Select Committee on the Insurance Bill, 2015, granting the Committee one more week to complete its report. The House agreed.
The Minister of the Environment and Water Resources moved the second reading of the Waste Recycling Bill, 2015. The Minister of State in the Environment and Water Resources was first to enter the debate, followed by the Member for Chaguanas West. The Minister then rose to conclude. The Bill was read a second time and then referred to a Committee of the Whole, where it was considered and approved with amendments. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.
During debate on the Waste Recycling Bill, 2015, the proceedings were temporarily halted to allow the Prime Minister to make a personal explanation, in which she informed the House of matters related to a contribution made by the Leader of the Opposition on May 20, 2013.
