Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Dr. Keith Rowley, MP for Diego Martin West from Sittings of the House during the period June 7-11, 2019 and to Hon. Shamfa Cudjoe, MP for Tobago West, Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, S.C., MP for Siparia and Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, MP for Caroni Central, from today’s Sitting of the House.
The House paid tribute to former PNM Member of Parliament for Caroni East, Mr. Manichan Ramsaran, who passed away on May 30, 2019. A minute of silence was observed.

Three bills were introduced in the names of the Minister of National Security and the Minister of Finance. The Minister of Finance moved that the next stage of The Miscellaneous Provisions (Financial Institutions, Securities and Insurance) Bill, 2019 and The Miscellaneous Provisions (Tax Amnesty, Pensions, Freedom of Information, National Insurance, Central Bank and Non-Profit Organisations) Bill, 2019 be taken on Monday June 10, 2019. The motion was carried.
The Leader of the House moved a motion to allow an extension to the JSC on The National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago Bill, 2018 and to the JSC on The Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters Bill, 2018, the Tax Information Exchange Agreements Bill, 2018 and the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018 in order for the Committees to complete its work and submit a final report by September 27, 2019. The motions were approved.
Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP, moved the second reading of The Private Security Industry Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill. Following the wind-up, Hon. Fitzgerald Hinds, MP, moved that the Bill be referred to a Joint Select Committee to consider and report on general merits and principles of the Bill and report by September 27, 2019. This motion was approved.
Sen. the Hon. Clarence Rambharat moved the second reading of The National Emblems of Trinidad and Tobago (Regulation)(Amendment) Bill, 2018. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was referred to the Committee of the Whole House for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
The Minister of Finance completed his wind up of the debate on The Miscellaneous Provisions (Petroleum, Petroleum Production Levy and Subsidy and Income Tax) Bill, 2019. The Bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole House for consideration clause by clause. The Bill was read a third time and passed, with amendments.
