The Annual Report of the Environmental Management Authority for the year 2005 was laid by the Minister of the Environment and Water Resources.
The Minister of Finance and the Economy moved the Motion that the Senate adopt the Report on the SSC on the Securities (Amendment) Bill, 2013.The Report was adopted and on Third Reading of the Bill a Division was taken, 28 Senators voted in favour of the Bill, no one voted against and there were no abstentions.
The President of the Senate invited members to pay tribute to former Independent Senator, John Gerald Furness Smith SC. Sen. the Hon. Gerald Hadeed on behalf of the Government Bench was the first to make his remarks followed by Sen. Camille Robinson-Regis on behalf of the Opposition and Sen. Elton Prescott, SC on behalf of the Independent Bench. The President of the Senate then offered his own words of tribute to the former Independent Senator and Senior Counsel. The Senate, as a mark of respect, observed a minute of silence.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Indictable Offenses (Committal Proceedings) Bill, 2014. Senator Faris Al-Rawi was the first to contribute followed by Senator Elton Prescott, SC.
