The Vice-President informed that Sen. the Hon. Christine Kangaloo was out of the country. Leave of absence was granted to Sen. Ronald Huggins, Sen. Anita Haynes, Sen. Stephen Creese and Sen. Melissa Ramkissoon, who are out of the country and to Sen. Taurel Shrikisson who is ill. Mr. Ndale Young, Mr. Garvin Simonette, Ms. Hasine Shaikh, Mr. John Heath, Mr. Ronald Duke and Ms. Zola Phillips were appointed temporary Senators.
Temporary Senators took the oath of allegiance.
Four Papers were laid.
Four questions were posed before the time for urgent questions expired.
Seven questions qualified for oral answer. Question #132 was deferred for two weeks.
Debate continued on The Criminal Division and District Criminal and Traffic Courts Bill, 2018. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate for consideration clause by clause. The Bill was read a third time and passed, with amendments.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter regarding the need for the Environmental Management Authority to investigate the release of a chemical, believed to be ammonia, from a plant in Mt. Lambert and the negative impact of the emanating chemical on the health of residents. Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan responded.
Sen. Mark raised a second matter on the failure of the Government to ensure that the Board of Inland Revenue presents its books and accounts for auditing. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance responded.
