Two urgent questions were posed and answered.
The Leader of Government Business moved motions that the JSCs on the National Statistical Institute of Trinidad and Tobago Bill, 2018 and the Cannabis Control Bill, 2019 be allowed extensions of 2 months to complete their work and submit final reports by August 31, 2020. The motions were approved.
The Member for Oropouche East, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, moved a private motion calling of the House to censure the Speaker for her failure to act properly and impartially in the exercise of her office. Debate began on the motion. With 14 votes for and 17 votes against and no abstentions, the motion was not approved.
The Deputy Speaker moved the private Bill:The Kabir Association of Trinidad (Incorporation)(Amendment) Bill, 2019. The Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
