Leave of absence was granted to Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP for San Fernando West, Mrs. Glenda Jennings-Smith, MP for Toco / Sangre Grande and Mrs. Christine Newallo-Hosein, MP for Cumuto / Manzanilla, from today’s Sitting of the House and to Mr. Barry Padarath, MP for Princes Town, from Sittings of the House during the period May 24 – June 8, 2019.
The Speaker informed of correspondence received from the President of the Senate highlighting the change in membership to three Joint Select Committees.
The Licensing Committee (Validation) Bill, 2018 was brought from the Senate in the name of the Attorney General.

Four urgent questions were posed before the time for urgent questions expired.
Nine questions qualified for oral answer. Question #179 was deferred.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 was introduced in the name of the Minister of Rural Development and Local Government.
The Leader of Government Business moved a motion to allow an extension of one month to the JSC on the Cybercrime Bill, 2017 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by June 28, 2019. This motion was approved.
Another motion was moved to allow an extension of four months to the JSC on the Constitution (Amendment) (Tobago Self-Government) Bill, 2018 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by September 27, 2019. This motion was approved.
The Member for Chaguanas West moved a private motion calling on the House to condemn the Government for its gross failure in the Education Sector and the resultant detrimental effect on generations of students. Five members spoke before debate was suspended.
The Minister of Finance moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Petroleum, Petroleum Production Levy and Subsidy and Income Tax) Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill.
