The President of the Senate indicated to the House that tributes for Former Opposition Senator Muhammad Shabazz who passed away on Friday May 22nd, 2015 will be paid later in the proceedings.
Debate continued on a Private Motion in the name of Sen. Victor Wheeler calling on the Government to take immediate steps to conduct a comprehensive review of the Regional Health Authority system in the delivery of health care in Trinidad and Tobago. Opposition Senator, Sen. Shamfa Cudjoe was first to join in the debate followed by Independent Senator, Sen. Dhanayshar Mahabir.
The Minister of Finance and the Economy moved a motion that the House adopt the JSC Report on the Insurance Bill, 2015. Opposition Senator, Sen. Faris Al Rawi was first to join in the debate followed by Independent Senator, Sen. Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir. A division was taken, 23 for, 0 against and 4 abstentions. The motion to adopt the report of the JSC on the Insurance Bill, 2015 was approved.
The President of the Senate invited members of the Senate to offer tributes in commemoration of Arrival Day, to be celebrated on Saturday 30th May, 2015.
At the next sitting, debate will commence on the Family and Children Division Bill, 2015 and the Committee stage will continue for the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Bill, 2014. The sitting ended at 9:58 p.m.
