The Minister of Legal Affairs moved a Motion asking the Senate to agree to House of Representatives amendments to the Miscellaneous Provisions (Licensing Committee) Bill, 2014. The Motion was approved.
The Minister of Finance and the Economy moved the second reading of the Purchase of Certain Rights (HCU) Bill, 2014. Sen Stuart Young was the first to contribute to the debate, followed by Sen. Dr. Rolph Balgobin, the Minister of Food Production and Sen. Faris Al-Rawi. Several other members made their contributions before the Minister of Finance and the Economy rose to respond to their comments and conclude. The Bill was then read a second time. The Bill was then put to a Committee of the whole Senate to be considered clause by clause. The Bill was then read a third time and passed unanimously without amendments.
The Senate Adjourned to Tuesday July 8th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. where they are expected to consider the Judges Salaries and Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and the Retiring Allowances (Legislative Service) (Amendment) Bill, 2014.
