30th Sitting of the Senate
2nd Session - 12th Republican Parliament
The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon and Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, SC. Mr. Ndale Young and Mr. Harvey Borris were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Gopee-Scoon and Armour respectively.
The Vice-President read the contents of a letter from the Speaker of the House to the President of the Senate indicating changes in House membership of several Joint Select Committees.
The Bills of Exchange (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2022, which were passed in the House of Representatives on June 13, 2022, were read a first time in the Senate in the name of the Minister of Finance. See the Supplemental Order Paper. The Leader of Government Business moved that the next stage of both Bills be taken on Tuesday June 21, 2022. The Senate agreed.

One Urgent Question was approved for oral answer. The Question has been appended to the Order Paper.
The Leader of Government Business moved several membership changes to Joint Select Committees. The Senate agreed.
Five Questions on Notice qualify for oral answer. One Question (103) was withdrawn. See the Order Paper.
The Committee Stage of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2020 resumed. The Bill was considered and approved without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed. At third reading a division was taken, the result of which was 24 for, none against, 6 abstentions.
At the next Sitting, the Senate will consider the Bills of Exchange (Amendment) Bill, 2022 and the Insurance (Amendment) Bill, 2022. Before adjourning the Senate extended greetings to the national community on the occasions of Corpus Christi and Labour Day. The Sitting ended at 5:52 p.m.
