Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2013

The Minister of Works and Infrastructure moved the second reading of the Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2013. The Leader of the Opposition was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Legal Affairs, the MP for Diego Martin North/East and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Debate on the Bill was then suspended to allow for debate on a Motion (see below). Upon the resumption, more members made contributions before the Minister of Works and Infrastructure rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. It was then read a third time and passed with a division of 22 for, 10 against, no abstentions.

Approve the Draft of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and House of Assembly) Order, 2013

The Minister of Local Government moved a Motion asking the House to approve the Draft of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government and House of Assembly) Order, 2013. The Member for Diego Martin North/East was first to enter the debate, followed by the Member for Chaguanas West and the Leader of the Opposition. 12 Members made contributions before the Minister rose to conclude. The Motion was approved by a margin of 22 for, 13 against.
