The Finance Bill, 2026

The Minister of Finance, Hon. Davendranath Tancoo, MP, moved the second reading of the Finance Bill, 2026. Debate began on the bill, with seven members making contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to wind up. The bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. Amendments were made. With 28 votes for, no votes against and 13 abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.

Extension of state of public emergency for a further three months

The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, SC, moved a motion to extend the state of public emergency for a further period of three months. Debate began on the motion. Nine members added their voice to the debate before the wind up by the Attorney General. With 28 votes for, 12 votes against and no abstentions, the motion was approved.
