The Member for Caroni East sought leave to raise as a definite matter of urgent public importance under Standing order 12 on the failure of the Government and the Ministry of Health to immediately investigate the continuing highly questionable and inequitable hiring practices at the North West Regional Health Authority. The Speaker ruled that the matter did not qualify under this Standing Order.
The Minister of Health introduced The Medical Board (Amendment)Bill, 2009 and moved that the next stage be taken later in the proceedings.Leave was granted.

Debate is expected to continue on the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2009, which was passed in the Senate on June 2, 2009. Previously three members the Minister of Public Utilities Hon. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Mr. Jack Warner and Mr. Harry Partap contributed. The Bill was then considered in Committee and passed without amendments.
Privilege Matter by the Minister of Public Administration on statements made in the House by the MP for Caroni East on July 17, 2009. The Speaker advised that the issue will be considered and a ruling will be made at a later date.
BE IT RESOLVED that this House adopt the Eighty-Ninth Report of the Salaries Review Commission on a General Review of the Salaries and Other Conditions of Offices within the Purview of the Commission.A total of four members made contributions before the Minister concluded the debate. The Motion was then approved.
