Leave of absence was granted to Ms. Cherrie-Ann Crichlow-Cockburn, MP for Lopinot / Bon Air West, Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, MP for Caroni Central and Mr. Prakash Ramadhar, MP for St. Augustine from today’s Sitting of the House and to Mr. Barry Padarath, MP for Princes Town, from sittings of the House during the period May 29 – June 30, 2020.

The Leader of the House moved a motion that an extension of one month be granted to the JSC on The Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by June 30, 2020. The motion was approved.
She then moved a motion that an extension of 3 months be granted to the JSC on The Constitution (Amendment) (Tobago Self-Government) Bill, 2018 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by August 31, 2020. The motion was approved.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of the The Interception of Communications (Amendment) Bill, 2020. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. Amendments were made. With 19 votes for, 12 votes against and no abstentions, the Bill was read a third time and passed.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of The Copyright (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Prior to the completion of the moving of the second reading of the Bill by the Attorney General, the debate on the Bill was adjourned.
