The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Member for San Fernando West (April 12-19), Tunapuna (April 16-29) and San Fernando East (today). The Speaker also recognized the presence in the Chamber of Hon. Shirley Osbourne, MLA, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Montserrat.

Ruling on Matter of Privilege

The Speaker ruled on a submission made by the Member for Chaguanas West at a previous sitting of the House asking that the House refer a matter involving the Member for Tobago East to the Committee of Privileges. The Speaker in his ruling stated that no prima facie case had been made and the matter therefore would not be referred to the Committee.

The Minister of National Security made a statement on a report into the Total Policing activity undertaken by some members of the police service on Monday 23rd March, 2015.

Loss of Confidence in the Leader of the Opposition

Debate resumed (from April 8, 2015) on a Motion of loss of confidence in the Leader of the Opposition. The Minister of Tobago Development was first to enter the debate on this day, followed by the Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, the Minister of Education and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Child Development. Debate on the Motion was then suspended.
