Leave of absence was granted to the Member for Couva South (on maternity leave April 11 to June 30), Member for Laventille West (today), Member for Moruga/Tableland (out of the country May 3-13),Member for Diego Martin Central (today), Member for Siparia (today) and Member for Tobago East (today).
The Deputy Speaker also expressed condolences on the passing of former independent Senator Ms Dana Seetahal, SC.
The Deputy Speaker then read into the record correspondence from the President of the Senate stating that at a sitting of the Senate on Tuesday May 06, 2014 Sen. H.R. Ian Roach was appointed to the JSC on Municipal Corporations and Service Commissions (in lieu of Mr. Subhas Ramkhelawan). Sen. Dr. Dhanayshar Mahabir was appointed to the JSC on the Insurance (No. 2) Bill, 2014 in lieu of Mr. Ramkhelawan.

23 Papers were be laid. Papers nos. 2-4 were referred to the Public Accounts Committee and Papers nos. 5-7 were referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. See the Order Paper.

10 Questions qualified for Oral Answer by Ministers. Questions Nos. 88, 95, 97, 121,98, 124 and 125 were answered while questions nos. 96 and 123 were deferred for two (2) weeks. Debate continued on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Administration of Justice) Bill, 2014. The Minister of Housing and Urban Development moved the second reading of the Land Tenants (Security of Tenure)(Amendment) Bill, 2014. The House Adjourned to Friday 16th May, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. where they will consider a Motion to approve the notice of the nomination by His Excellency the President to appoint Prof. Ramesh Deosaran as Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
