Eight Papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance and Leader of the House. Paper 1 was referred to the Public Accounts Committee and Papers 2-7 were referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. See Order Paper for details.
In keeping with the Standing Orders, Prime Minister Question Time is a feature at every second Sitting of the House of Representatives each month. Nineteen (19) questions were posed to the Prime Minister by members of the Opposition. See the Order Paper for questions.
Four urgent questions were posed and answered. See Order Paper for details.
Thirty-seven (37) questions qualified for oral answer. Questions 95, 96, 100, 104, 117, 118, 119, 122 and 123 were answered. Questions 115 and 116 were withdrawn. Questions 132 and 133 were deferred for two weeks. All other questions were deferred to the next Sitting. See Order Paper for details.
The Attorney General introduced the Miscellaneous Provisions (Anti-Gang and Bail) Bill, 2016 and moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. See Order Paper for details.
The Attorney General moved a motion to grant an extension thirteen weeks to the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report on the Whistleblower Protection Bill, 2015 in order to complete its work and submit a final report by September 9, 2016. The House agreed.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Anti-Gang and Bail) Bill, 2016. Debate on the Bill was suspended.
Ms. Ramona Ramdial, MP raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure by the Tobago House of Assembly to account for public funds coming out of the Ministry of Finance. The Minister of Finance responded.
Mr. Ganga Singh, MP, also raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of Government to meet and treat with hundreds of occupiers of State Lands at Munroe Road, Cunupia. The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries responded.
