Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Stuart Young, MP for North / St. Ann’s West and to Mr. Dominic Romain, MP for Malabar / Mausica.
The Speaker informed of correspondence received from the President of the Senate on the change of membership to the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee.
The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Republic of Chile Partial Scope Trade Agreement Bill, 2026 was brought from the Senate in the name of the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs. The Leader of the House, Hon. Barry Padarath, MP, moved that the next stage of the bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Retrenchment and Severance Benefits (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was brought from the Senate in the name of the Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development.

The Minister of Public Utilities and Leader of the House, Hon. Barry Padarath, MP, made a statement on the Settlement of Outstanding COLA and parity adjustments for Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) workers.
The Member for Arouca/Lopinot, Mr. Marvin Gonzales, MP, moved a private motion on the establishment of an adequate national road safety system. Debate began on the motion. Three members contributed to the debate before the adjournment of the debate on this motion.
The Member for Barataria / San Juan, Hon. Saddam Hosein, MP, moved a motion to adopt the special report of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee. Debate began on the motion. Eleven members contributed to the debate before the wind up. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Hon. Sean Sobers, MP, moved the second reading of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Republic of Chile Partial Scope Trade Agreement Bill, 2026. The Leader of the House, Hon. Barry Padarath, MP, was the sole contributor to the debate. The bill was committed to the Committee of the Whole for consideration clause by clause. With 25 votes for, no votes against and no abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
