Leave of absence was granted to Sen. the Hon. Rohan Sinanan from today’s Sitting. Ms. Alisha Romano was appointed temporary Senator in his place.

Debate continued on The Miscellaneous Provisions (Trial By Judge Alone) Bill, 2017. The Senate then resolved to a Committee of the Whole to consider the Bill on a clause by clause basis. The Committee Stage will resume at the next Sitting.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment namely the need for the Government to provide the public with good reasons for requesting the Public Service Commission to delegate its recruiting and disciplining authority to Permanent Secretaries in five (5) Ministries. Hon. Maxie Cuffie, MP, responded.
Sen. Mark raised another matter namely the failure of the Government to appropriately address the numerous challenges plaguing the sea bridge which adversely affect the movement of goods and passengers between Trinidad and Tobago. The Leader of Government Business responded.
