Leave of absence was granted to the Hon. Maxie Cuffie, MP for La Horquetta/Talparo, for the month of April , and to Mr. Prakash Ramadhar, MP for St. Augustine, from today’s Sitting.
Five papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Finance and the Deputy Speaker. Papers 1 and 2 were referred to the Public Accounts Committee and Paper 3 was referred to the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee. Paper 5 was referred to the JSC on National Security for its consideration and report by July 31, 2018. See Order Paper for details.
One Report was presented by the Attorney General.
Five urgent questions were posed before the time for urgent questions expired.
Seventeen questions qualified for oral answer. Questions #145, #168, #180 and #187 were deferred for two weeks.
The Whistleblower Protection Bill, 2018 was introduced in the name of the Attorney General.
The Leader of the House moved a motion to allow an extension of three months to the JSC on the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2018 in order for the Committee to complete its work and submit a final report by June 29, 2018. This motion was carried.
A second motion on appointments to Joint Select Committees was moved and approved.
The Attorney General moved a motion to approve the Administration of Justice (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) Regulations, 2018. Debate began on this motion and was concluded. The motion was approved.
Mr. David Lee, MP, raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Ministry of Education to take adequate action in timely manner to ensure the reopening of the Mount Pleasant Government Primary School. The Minister of Education responded.
