The Minister of Local Government moved the Second Reading of the Local Government Bill, 2009. In so doing, the Minister also sought leave to debate the Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2009. Leave was granted. Following the introduction of the Minister, eleven members made interventions before the Minister began her wind-up.
The Local Government Bill, 2009 was referred to a Joint Select Committee and mandated to report within three months. The Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2009 was considered in Committee and passed without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed.

At its next sitting the House is expected to consider the Securities Bill, 2009. The House adjourned at 10:36 p.m.
